CANTERBURY, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire State Police are investigating two traffic deaths on Interstate 93.
They said a passenger died in an SUV crash in Canterbury on Monday. The southbound vehicle veered off the road, traveled down an embankment and struck a tree.
Police said 43-year-old Nichole Dempsey, of Plymouth, died. The driver and another passenger were seriously injured and taken to a hospital.
The driver, 50-year-old James Deveau, was charged with felony aggravated driving under the influence of drugs and operating after his license was suspended. It wasn't known if he had a lawyer.
Police also said a pedestrian was struck and killed in Bow. State Police Sgt. Gregg DeLuca tells WMUR-TV the person was reported walking in the middle of the road. The driver pulled over right away. Police are investigating.
